Star Wars Assault Team: Win Lamproids Special Mission

Welcome to Stuff For Guys, where you'll find information about a lot of useless stuff, an occasional useful stuff, but it's all stuff for guys.  The team at LucasArts and Disney Mobile have released a limited-time Star Wars Assault Team Special Mission called "Win Lamproid Heroes" on June 19, where you can win Katarns, promotion items for Katarns and Lamproids  and of course, Lamproids themselves.  A friend of mine got a Tier 3 Lamproid on his first try, but I'm going on 5 tries and still haven't gotten one.  To see all of Lamproid's promotion items, go to this post.

Here's the banner announcing it:

Here's what a Lamproid looks like:

Here's what a Lamproid looks like as an opponent (they kinda look like giant slugs with legs!!):

It started off with a teaser around 16:00 Eastern on June 19:

Then around the time that the Win New Training Items special mission expired, the Lamproid mission kicked in, along with a re-order of some of the special missions because causing confusion is a cornerstone of their GUI development standards:

LucasArts got it right for a while when they added the new Savrip mission preview midday on June 20:

But then someone just have noticed that being right was wrong, and moved the special missions around yet again:

Kept it the same on Smuggler Saturday:

Then eventually mixed everything around again when the Savrip Showdown mission was activated:

But enough about LucasArts' inability to maintain a consistent front end for the special missions menu.  Here are the missions themselves:

Mission 1: The Hunting Game

The Hunting Game (Normal Difficulty) rewards: Tier 2 Katarn

The Hunting Game (Heroic Difficulty) rewards: junk

The Hunting Game (Epic Difficulty) rewards: Wasaka Berry Pudding

Wasaka Berry Pudding: previously a credit-only item, now a promo item for Lamproids

Mission 2: A Secret Army

A Secret Army (Normal Difficulty) rewards

A Secret Army (Normal Difficulty) rewards #2

A Secret Army (Heroic Difficulty) rewards

A Secret Army (Heroic Difficulty) rewards #2

A Secret Army (Epic Difficulty) rewards

Mission 3: A Price on His Head

Someone else was able to get a Lamproid on the first try in Normal Difficulty:

Not me.  I've tried over and over and have not gotten a single one of these suckers yet.

A Price on His Head (Normal Difficulty) #1

A Price on His Head (Normal Difficulty) #2

A Price on His Head (Normal Difficulty) #3

A Price on His Head (Normal Difficulty) #4

A Price on His Head (Normal Difficulty) #5

A Price on His Head (Heroic Difficulty) #1

A Price on His Head (Heroic Difficulty) #2

A Price on His Head (Heroic Difficulty) #3

A Price on His Head (Heroic Difficulty) #4

A Price on His Head (Heroic Difficulty) #5

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #1

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #2

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #3

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #4

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #5

A Price on His Head (Epic Difficulty) #6

AND FINALLY, on the 6th attempt on Heroic difficulty (and the 17th overall), I got mine:

So the bad news is that it took 17 tries for me to get a Lamproid.  The good news is that anyone who's looking for the Holochess, the Medal of Alderaan or the TranLang III Communicator Module can find it pretty easily in these missions (other players have pulled Sabacc Cards as well):

There is a slight bug to note -- the missions will give you 2 cards, but you always end up with 3.  Here's a clear screenshot of that difference (along with the 17 other screenshots that I posted above).  Note the card count at 2 (upper right; above the credit count of 396), but the rewards are always 3 cards.  The first of the 3 cards seems to be the one that gets assigned only at the end of the run and seems to be the one that determines whether you're getting a Lamproid or not.

FINAL NOTE: If you really want a better chance of getting Lamproids, you can spend some gems on this new Humanoid Hero Crate, which was introduced at the same time as this set of Lamproid special missions:

  1. I don't have any tier 5 heroes, only 5 tier 4 level 25 heroes, so I was only able to pass "A price on his head" normal difficulty. I never could pass heroic. After trying about 24 times on normal (winning about half), I finally landed a tier 4 lamproid. I guess my persistence paid off!

  2. Wow, 24 attempts is a lot. Hopefully you'll get your Tier 4 guys promoted to Tier 5 soon. Check out this page to see what promotion items you'll need: http://stuff-for-guys-sfg.blogspot.com/2014/04/star-wars-assault-team-promotion.html
